1. Effective Monday, January 25th at 5:00am, the Stay at Home Advisory for the hours of 10pm – 5am is rescinded.
2. Effective Monday, January 25th at 5:00am, the Mandatory Early Closure of Businesses Order requiring certain businesses to close by 9:30pm will be rescinded. On Monday, January 25th at 5:00am, the following businesses and activities listed below may operate past 9:30pm:
- Restaurants
- Arcades & Other Indoor & Outdoor Recreation (Phase 3, Step 1 businesses only)
- Indoor and Outdoor Events
- Movie Theaters and Outdoor Performance Venues
- Drive-In Movie Theaters
- Youth and Adult Amateur Sports Activities
- Golf Facilities
- Recreational Boating and Boating Businesses (e.g. charter boats)
- Outdoor Recreational Experiences
- Casinos and Horse Tracks/Simulcast Facilities
- Driving and Flight Schools
- Zoos, Botanical Gardens, Wildlife Reserves, Nature Centers

The following information will help you understand your quarterly real estate tax bill.
a) The amount due on the 3rd and 4th quarter bills is calculated as follows: Take the valuation and divide by 1000; then multiply by the tax rate $18.13 (This figure is the total tax for the fiscal year).
b) Take the total tax and add in the betterment/committed interest charges, water/sewer lien charges. Subtract the two preliminary tax amounts charged.
c) You should then divide the balance by two. This figure represents the amount due on the 3rd and 4th quarter bill.
Due dates are as follows:
1st Quarter: August 1
2nd Quarter: November 1
3rd Quarter: February 1
4th Quarter: May 1

The grants are for $2500.00 per business and are specifically to assist with rent or utility payments during this time. Applications will be available until the funds are exhausted. Mosquitos in the Northeast quadrant of Leominster have tested positive for West Nile Virus. The Mosquito Control Board works hard to monitor these situations throughout the summer and fall. We offer small grants as a way to invest in neighborhoods and improve the quality of life in Leominster.
Each ward in the city will be given one grant of up to $2,000.00. Grant recipients must secure a dollar-for-dollar match equal to or exceeding the grant amount requested. The match can be in the form of cash, volunteer labor, or donated goods or services.
Grants are intended to spur small, grassroots community projects. Grants may be used for a wide variety of projects. Proposals are reviewed and funding decisions are made by a group of individuals including the Mayor’s office and the Ward Councilor.

Holiday Trash and Recycling
Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on a Monday this year. If your regularly scheduled pick up is on Monday, your trash and recycling will be picked up on Tuesday, both weeks. Tuesday’s collection will occur on Wednesday and each subsequent day will also be one day later, finishing up on Saturday.
Residents may place one (1) extra bag of trash at the curbside after the Christmas holiday. If you have more than what fits into your tote to dispose of please come to the Health Department and purchase over flow bags.
Please remember that FOIL wrapping paper is NOT recyclable! Please put all waste FOIL wrapping paper in your green tote, not in your blue tote.
